The trap won't stay armed

Make sure the app is in the foreground and the screen is on. iOS pauses sensors when the app is backgrounded or the screen locks — the silent keep-alive audio loop holds the session open as long as the app is visible. If you force-quit the app, armed state is cleared. Reopen and tap Arm the trap again.

No sound when I tap SMACK MACHINE

• Check your phone isn't on silent mode — SmackFart respects it.
• Move the volume slider up.
• If another app is exclusively holding audio (some calls, CarPlay), switch apps to release it.

The idle / Surprise fart timer isn't firing

• Make sure the trap is armed. The timer only fires while armed.
• Check the "Fart every" interval — if it's 30s and you've only waited 10s, keep waiting.
• Idle probability matters. 1% means roughly one fart per 100 intervals. Turn it up for faster testing.
• Keep the app in the foreground with the screen on. iOS pauses JavaScript timers when the app is backgrounded past a short grace period.

Evidence Vault clips are missing / the camera won't start

• Evidence Vault is a Pro feature. Confirm you've unlocked the app.
• Go to iOS Settings → SmackFart and verify Camera access is allowed.
• Test and chain-echo triggers are intentionally skipped — shake, tap, or idle triggers create clips.
• The vault keeps up to 12 clips. The oldest one is automatically rolled off when you hit the cap.

Restoring purchases on a new device

Open the app → scroll to the Unlock Everything section → tap Restore purchases. StoreKit will re-grant the unlock using the Apple ID on the device. If nothing happens, confirm you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Refunds

• App Store purchases: Apple handles refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and request a refund there — we can't process Apple refunds on our side.
• Direct Mac downloads (Paddle): email help@smackfart.com within 14 days and we'll refund via Paddle.

I bought the direct Mac version — why doesn't my iPhone unlock?

The direct Mac download is a separate product sold outside the App Store. Apple's ecosystem has no way to link an external purchase to your Apple ID, so it can't cross-grant to iOS automatically.

If you want the unlock on both platforms, buy through the App Store — one purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon Mac. If you've already bought the direct Mac version and want the iOS unlock too, email us and we'll sort out a one-time promo code.
